Immigration will help connect students to immigrants and refugees within the community. Whether through ESL tutoring, translation services, or connecting immigrants in the community to local resources, this project aims to help people, regardless of their county of origin, acclimate to their new home.

Year: Junior
Major: Spanish
Minor: Pre Law: legal studies and anthropology
Hobbies: I enjoy bouldering, running, baking with my mom and sister, and training my Australian Shepherd, Canelo, when I’m home.
Why I love VIP: "I love VIP because it’s a great way to get involved in the Champaign-Urbana community and make an impact both on and off campus. With so many projects, there’s something for everyone. Plus, you get to meet others who are just as excited about volunteering and giving back. I highly recommend everyone to get involved with VIP!"
About my project: "My SPAN 232 course, Spanish in the Community with Professor Abbott, gave me the chance to volunteer with the immigrant community here. Working with these individuals was incredibly fulfilling, and I learned so much about them. I love this project because it offers many ways to volunteer and make an impact on this community. My goal for the year is to build a bridge between non-profits and students to promote civic engagement both on and off campus!"
